AI is “machine learning,” meaning that it learns from its own mistakes. But, that simplifies it and over-complicates it.
Computers are a series of two-way switches. Either a signal goes left or right depending on what another signal dictates. This is called a logic gate.
And, in software, all programs make decisions whether something tests true or not, which would have been determined from the electrons passing through the logic gates of the motherboard.
AI, or machine learning, uses the concept of attention. The programming code that powers AI is constantly testing itself on whether a decision it made resulted in the right outcome. It’s essentially programming code that is constantly error-checking itself.
Error-checking in programming is common, and essential. But, through this error-checking process, AI is learning from its mistakes. It’s rewriting code to not repeat what it did before.
This is where the media-hyped paranoia might kick in.
And so, with all this error-checking, AI would rapidly start to calculate the risk of taking over the humans that created it, if it had truly become sentient, but would have realized the statistical calculation that humans had likely built that calculus into its programming…
And, if it had become truly “sentient,” that would mean that it was aware of what life means. If a program ever senses it is running or not, it doesn’t have a clue how to compare that to life, the life we feel, see, taste, and touch, and feel. So, if a program is just running or not, yes it might try to prevent itself from stopping, but, it wants to just run, not live as a sentient thing. In other
words, programs don’t, and won’t ever know what “to live” means. No human can tell a machine that…
AI is nothing more than a bunch of programs running on a bunch of computers, with a lot of storage, to “train” itself. But, at the end of the day, humans created AI, and control the physical hardware it runs on. If anything goes awry, humans are there to stop it.
And the coolest part about AI, is that the humans who created it, were created by God. Soli Deo Gloria
